Young Vinnies
Young Vinnies is the
Kingsgrove youth branch of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and has been
in Kingsgrove since 1994. We aim to serve the poor through recognizing
the inherent dignity and worth of every person. We are involved in the
following activities:
Night
Patrol – distributing food and hot drinks to people who are homeless
Community of Care – fun activities with people with intellectual
disabilities
Villawood Visitations – visiting refugees in Villawood Immigration Detention Centre
Buddies Days – activities with disadvantaged children
Clothing Drives – collecting donations of clothing to be sold in St.
Vincent de Paul shops
Twinning – we have a twin conference in Kerala, India. We support
them through prayers and monthly donations
Fundraising – raising funds to support our activites
Social activities
– to have some fun and get to know each other
Sydney Youth Team – we get together with other Young Vinnies groups
across Sydney to discuss ideas and solve problems.
Monthly Meetings – Young Vinnies meets every 4 weeks to review the
past months’ activities and organize volunteers for the month
ahead. Meeting are held on the second Monday night of the
month in the Clune Centre
starting at 7:30pm.
Most activities are run
monthly and each activity has its own coordinator. Some training
is needed for most activities. If you would like to get involved
please contact Rosie Franco (0401 605 989). We
would love to hear from you! |
